I just had my lapband operation on November 5th. I finally realized there might be a tribe related to that topic. So, here I am.

Re: Newbie, here...
Fri, November 30, 2007 - 6:22 AMEsteban, bienvenido! Finally, another man around the house!
To be honest, I'm not entirely sure if anyone else here has had the lapband, or not. My five year anniversary for my roux-en-Y bypass was on Tuesday. Still holding at about 210 pounds, which is up a few pounds from my goal of 200, but still 220 less than I was before the operation.
Yes, making that four ounces count is a trial. I have a difficult time with it, still. I regularly tell my wife, "I've become the pickiest eater on the planet." It used to be that I could, and did, eat anything. Now, however, I have to consider my choices very, very carefully. It takes patience with yourself and the support of those around you. I hope your partner is aware that he's a big part of your success.
Anyway, please feel free to post any questions, comments, rants or raves and we'll happily address them. This tribe's been too quiet for too long. Let's party!
Love and light, dear ones.

Re: Newbie, here...
Fri, November 30, 2007 - 8:01 AMhey Esteban! Welcome to the tribe! I'm a bandster too, as of 8/22/07 so I'm a few months ahead. So far I've lost 50 lbs, including 12 lbs on the preop fast. What food phase are you on at this point?
Which band did they give you - the new AP? I have the AP myself and had some restriction right away, and had my first fill about 2 weeks ago, which made a huge difference. You may find that it's easier to make that food last longer once you get a fill and have more restriction. In any case, it's well worth taking the tiny bites and chewing the heck out of it. If it doesn't last 20 minutes, don't sweat it - it will take longer to get it in when you get more restricted (if you rush, you'll get stuck - that helps you remember to slow down!).
There are also some other great band-focused message boards out there that are a lot more active than this tribe. Check out:

www.lapbandtalk.com/
There's also a lap-band tribe out here (check out my profile to find it) but again, they're pretty quiet compared to the others i listed here. Nothing says we can't fire things up out here though!
Cornflake, congrats on a 5 year anniversary - well done!!
